The Kenya School of Monetary Studies is a premier trainer of financial sector professionals across Africa.

It offers master’s degree programmes in banking and finance, financial economics (MFE), finance (MF), economic policy analysis (MEPA), and public policy analysis (MPPA) in collaboration with the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

It also offers postgraduate diplomas in business sciences and financial management and short-term courses for durations that range from two to 10 days.

It also offers an MA in banking and finance (MBF) with a special focus on microfinance.

The programme seeks to equip participating individuals with relevant cutting edge knowledge and skills that adequately address both the theoretical and practical needs of the sector.

One of the key features of the programme is to expand access to higher degree programmes in banking, finance, and micro-finance, specifically targeting persons from disadvantaged backgrounds.

It also offers associateship and a certificate programmes in banking and financial services, both examined by the Kenya Institute of Bankers.

Registered in 1997, the college’s principal shareholder is the Central Bank of Kenya.

The primary objective of the school is capacity building for economists, bankers, and financial experts in order to meet the manpower requirements for the sound economic management and stability of the financial sector in Kenya and the region.

It seeks to be a regional centre of excellence for training of high calibre economists and financial experts required to formulate and implement policies geared towards a sustainable economic growth and a stable financial sector.
