Inoorero University, Nairobi

Inoorero University was officially unveiled to the public in October 2009. Inoorero is a Kikuyu expression meaning “the sharpening place”. The university styles itself as the place where people’s minds, skills, attitudes, and knowledge are sharpened.

Previously known as the Kenya School of Professional Studies (KSPS), the institution has offered professional courses for more than 25 years. The university seeks to be a technology and market-driven university through dynamic teaching, research, consultancy, community service, and innovation.

Kenya School of Professional Studies was registered in 1983 to develop skills in organizations for various cadres of employees. The college moved to the present Inoorero centre in Parklands, Nairobi, in 1991 and its governance composition amended a year later.

It developed its own certificate and diploma programmes in 1997 and gradually began building blocks to expand into a university. In October 2007 the institution submitted a proposal to the Commission for Higher Education to grant it a university status. It got the interim authority in September 2009.

The university’s main campus is located between Forest Road and Limuru Road in Parklands, Nairobi. It has another campus in Kiserian, on the fringes of Nairobi.
